SIMBY 2020-2021

Virtual Arts Workshops for Black womxn and girls ages 13-24 in partnership with PSTV

This club is dedicated to middle school aged Black girls who are interested in photography and building community with like minded peers in a virtual environment led by Black womxn photographers. This is a safe space to ask questions and explore the realities of modern Blackness with a focus on Black girlhood, storytelling, and a love for photography.

"Thank you guys for all the tips and advice from editing and how to take photos to social injustice...and honestly how to be women!"

SIMBY Presents: The Philly Factor Photo Workshop

In October 2019 before SIMBY was official, we conducted an in-person photo workshop at the Philadelphia School District's TV Station (PSTV) with middle school aged Black girls who were interested in learning the basics of photography. Seeing the joy and hearing the honest feedback from these ten students about their experience birthed SIMBY to be the Black womxn led arts education nonprofit that it is today.
